If you have an AMD Radeon graphics card in your computer, you might have noticed a process called mom.exe running when you open Windows Task Manager. Mom.exe is a process that belongs to the Monitoring Program of AMD Catalyst Control Center. If you wish, you can stop or disable mom.exe to speed up your PC.
Normally, when you start up your Windows system, mom.exe is loaded by the Catalyst Control Center, which is launched by default upon startup. If you remove Catalyst Control Center from the startup list of Windows, this will stop mom.exe and other processes from being loaded during Windows startup.
To do this, just open Run from the Start menu or press Windows + R, type msconfig and hit Enter. On the Startup tab of the dialog box, look for Catalyst Control Center in the list and untick the checkbox in front of it. You can safely do this, because mom.exe is not necessary to run your graphics card, as the drivers will load regardless of the presence or absence of these processes.
