With Microsoft's acquisition of Nokia's Devices and Services business finally confirmed, the Finnish company is now set planning for a future without Lumia in the picture. New CEO Rajeev Suri is on board to do just that, and has already spoken confidently of Nokia's future. There are three points Suri intends to focus on: Nokia's Networks business, its HERE location services; and Technologies, which will lease Nokia's patents and develop new tech. In a recorded video, Suri indicates that the development of tech, which "will be as profound as the creation of the internet," will lead to potentially huge opportunities for Nokia.
Aside from the company developing its own new technology, Suri has appealed to independent inventors to join in the future of Nokia, this through the "Invent with Nokia" outreach program. Although it is a difficult to imagine Nokia without Nokia phones, it is similarly hard not to be curious, even excited, to see what will happen next for the company.
In the meantime, Microsoft celebrated by launching a new advert showcasing the change in hands of Nokia's Devices business, as well as propogating its new status as the rebel competitor to Apple and Samsung. Watch it here.
