Twitter has introduced a new way to drown out annoying users, the social network announced today. "Mute" will allow Twitter users to block all tweets and retweets from a specific user without having to actively unfollow them. According to the blog post, a muted user will still be able to retweet, favorite or reply to your tweets - you, on the other hand, will not receive any push notifications. The silenced user will have no idea, of course.

Muting or unmuting someone is simple. Just go to their profile page, click the gear icon and either select or deselect the Mute option. Users can also be muted within your own timeline, on both desktop and mobile versions of Twitter. The social network is currently rolling out the new feature, with only select users having gotten the feature update so far.
