Twitter has appointed Marjorie Scandino to its board of directors. Scandino, who was the CEO of publishing company Pearson and the first female CEO of a FTSE 100 company, is the first woman in the board. This comes as no surprise considering the backlash against Twitter's formerly all-male board. This, along with the microblogging company's need to bring in someone with extensive media experience, was enough for Scardino to be chosen above anyone else.
At Pearson, Scardino oversaw the Financial Times, and prior to that was the CEO of the Economist Group. She was also on the board of directors of Nokia until earlier this year.
