Try on Another Face with Your Webcam

Ever wondered what you’d look like as James Bond or the Queen? An amusing website by coder Audun Mathias Øygard lets you swap your face with celebrity visages and is likely to be the most fun you’ll have with your webcam this week.

Øygard’s creation treads the Uncanny Valley firmly between amusing and creepy, allowing you to try a number of famous faces on for size. Of course, some of the familiar faces are a little more successful than others, but if you’re really intent on playing Terminator, Walter White or Kim Kardashian, we doubt you’re going to mind too much if you look a little like an outdated video game graphic.

Impressively, Øygard’s Javascript creation follows 70 distinct points on your face at one go, building upon face-tracking algorithms designed by robotics researchers at the Carnegie Mellon Institute. This means that if you open your mouth, tilt your head or stick out your tongue, your onscreen counterpart will be able to follow your every movement.

If you can’t wait to play pretend as Nicholas Cage or the Mona Lisa, the facial replacement website should definitely be your next stop today. Click here to give it a go, but don’t say we didn’t warn you: it can be pretty addictive!
