If you don’t mind your phone being turned into advertising space in exchange for a little money being taken off your monthly bill, Slidejoy may be the app for you.
Set to launch on Monday, Slidejoy could soon help Android users to chip away at their phone bills every time they turn their phones on. According to CEO Robert Seo, Slidejoy will display “beautiful” advertisements from companies such as Sephora, Best Buy, and J. Crew on Android lock screens. The clever little retail app will also be able to adapt to a user’s preferences, usage times, and location in order to create a “more profitable and relevant user experience.”
In return for leasing out your phone as a tiny little billboard, Slidejoy will pay off your phone bill. Since the app hasn’t launched yet, it’s hard to tell exactly how much users could hope to save per month, but Seo estimates the monthly target as between $5 and $15 initially, with possible increases in the future. Best of all, users will be paid the same amount for every ad they interact with, whether they follow the ad through to a purchase or not.
