New App Has the Answer to Vertical Video Syndrome

Vertical videos are a plague upon our content-sharing internet community, but now you can save yourself from committing this social media faux pas with a new app called Horizon.

Some video apps, such as Google’s YouTube Capture, have made vague attempts to reduce the incidents of Vertical Video Syndrome by prompting users to turn their phones on their sides before shooting, but Horizon has a far better solution to the problem. Designed by developers Evil Window Dog, Horizon uses the iPhone’s built-in gyroscope as an automatic video levelling system. This means that no matter how you hold your phone, the camera will keep a horizontal focus at all time, even adapting to your movement and adjusting itself to retain the correct ratio.

The handy app supports several different aspect ratios, as well as allowing users to tweak its output settings like any video app worth its salt should do. To appease the Instagram generation, there is even a small selection of filters to choose from. The app is available from Apple’s App Store for $0.99 for a limited time only.
