Mozilla: Firefox phones will not be released stateside

US Firefox OS lovers eagerly awaiting the launch of the recently-announced Firefox phones will have to twiddle their thumbs a little longer. In an interview with CNET Mozilla exec chairperson Mitchell Baker explained that the US market will be set aside in order for the company to focus on developing countries instead – areas which technology giants like Apple and Google are presently ignoring.

Whilst it is great to see a company taking the initiative to market their devices to developing nations, the decision has left a lot of Mozilla fans cold. The only way to get your hands on a Firefox handset is through eBay, where developers are selling the phones Mozilla had sold to them exclusively.
