Minnesota Company Debuts Beer Delivery Drone

Drone deliveries may be a serious business which could make the delivery of official documents and expensive goods simpler and safer than ever, but that doesn’t mean we can’t have a little fun with it too. The Minnesota-based Lakemaid Brewing Company is doing just that by testing a drone delivery service for beer.

The brilliant minds behind Lakemaid’s intrepid journey into the air were inspired by Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos’ now-infamous announcement on “60 Minutes” last year. After hearing of the online retailer’s plans to implement same-day delivery via drone, the company decided to look into a similar service for customers who just cannot wait to get a nice cold beer.

The brewery’s first drone delivery was officially made to an ice-fishing shack at the nearby Lake Millie Lacs, and was reportedly a resounding success. Lakemaid posted a video of the drone’s important mission on YouTube, showing a 12-pack of the company’s beer arriving safe and sound at its delivery destination.
