Influenced by interactivity on other social media sites, professional social network LinkedIn will soon give all of its users the ability to write posts and gain followers.
Up until now, only the most influential LinkedIn users have been able to use the site’s publishing platform, so you were only likely to see posts from the likes of Richard Branson and Bill Gates, but all that is about to change. Originally, the publishing feature served as a way for the site’s top influencers to share their business knowledge and advice, as well as promoting themselves and gaining more followers, but these features will soon be available to would-be moguls everywhere.
Starting on Wednesday, LinkedIn will expand the publishing feature on the network to be available to all its users, according to Product Management Director Ryan Roslansky. In an official blog post, Roslansky expressed the company’s interest in sharing knowledge and expertise across the entire site to help users improve their overall job performance. “We are making a commitment to our members: the time you spend on LinkedIn will make you better at your job today,” promised Roslansky.
