The latest episode of hugely popular series Game of Thrones has managed to break the record for the most people sharing a file simulatenously via BitTorrent. More than 193,000 people shared a single copy the day after the episode aired, and roughly 1.5 million people downloaded the episode thereafter. The results were generated from all over the world, creating huge amounts of activity on a number of torrent sites and managing to establish the record for the largest BitTorrent swarm ever while they were at it.

This may come as no surprise to those who watched the episode, which featured a shocking (yet celebrated) twist. Fans of the show have already taken to social media to celebrate this particular event, with Facebook posts, Tweets, YouTube videos and Vines coming up in the millions. The show is no stranger to this sort of thing, having faced similar reactions to last season's notorious Red Wedding. However the "Purple Wedding", the subject of this episode, allowed for far more jubiliation than its predecessor.
