Google blocks uTorrent on Chrome

Posted by: admin (4 years ago)

Users of Google’s Chrome browser have begun being barred from downloading popular BitTorrent client uTorrent. Attempting to download the software will lead to an error message saying that it is malicious, and that Chrome has blocked uTorrent. This follows the latest stable release of uTorrent, with users noting the error messages over the last few days.

While offering users the option to open the file regardless, Chrome will continue to suggest that the file is risky to computers on the basis that the uTorrent website may have been hacked. This is not the first time the BitTorrent client has run into problems on Chrome, with the browser having blocked uTorrent on a few occasions in the past.

If you are a user of Chrome and are looking for an alternative to uTorrent, Deluge and BitTornado are highly recommended.
