Facebook Sponsored Stories will disappear soon

After a $20m fine and a huge wave of complaints from users, Facbook will pull the plug on one of the most annoying Facebook features, the so-called "sponsored stories" on 9 April.

Some users didn't like them, some others were annoyed by them: Facebook's sponsored stories did not have the best reception among the new features of the social network. These are the posts that appeared after our friends had checked in a fast food restaurant or liked the page of a bank, and Facebook kept reminding us of that, against the advertisement fee paid by the said restaurant or bank.

This form of advertisement was introduced in 2011 and met with widespread disapproval, and Facebook was fined 20 million dollars for selling our activities to advertisers.

Sponsored stories will be switched off on 9th April, but you can make them disappear anytime by installing a free Chrome add-on.
