Facebook Outage Hits Users Worldwide

Posted by: Maxine Brimmer (3 years ago)

If you can’t seem to share a status, like a post or comment on Facebook today, you’re not the only ones. Many users from all around the world are reporting (via Twitter, obviously) that the social media site is not working for them either.

The world’s most popular social media site is still accessible and the comments and posts made by unaffected users can still be viewed, but a large group of people find themselves unable to contribute anything themselves. Users experiencing this interruption of service are greeted with an error message reading: “An error occurred. Please try again in a few minutes”. The error has persisted for a number of hours so far.

Since Facebook has declined to comment to several news outlets, there is not yet any explanation for this partial outage. The error has been prevalent on Facebook’s website as well as on the iOS app.

The error is business as usual for Facebook lurkers, but has earned considerable grousing from users missing out new and exciting opportunities to share pictures of their breakfasts.
