Facebook advancing into Snapchat territory with new iOS feature

Facebook's update for iOS might look somewhat familiar, especially if you're a Snapchat user. The app now includes an easy "Share with only these friends" option, which produces a selector that allows you to pick the friends you want to share your photo with on your Timeline. You'll now get to preview the audience before you post a status or photo, and can easily opt between pre-made friend lists or individual friends by slecting their Snapchat-like bubbles.

Facebook have been pushing the concept of selective sharing for a long time, but this is their first step towards individual sharing as opposed to just creating a group. Whether this direct challenge to Snapchat will be successful, we have yet to see. The shortlived Poke, which was once Facebook's alternative to Snapchat, was a spectacular flop (so much so that Mark Zuckeberg attempted to buy Snapchat) and even Instagram Direct failed to make waves.
