BlackBerry CEO Calls iPhone Users “Wall Huggers”

BlackBerry CEO John Chen expressed his distaste for the iPhone when he jokingly referred Apple users as “wall huggers” due to the smartphone’s short battery life. Whether Mr. Chen made this statement whilst dining on a large portion of sour grapes was not specified.

The remark was apparently made when Chen delivered a speech at the Oasis Montgomery Summit, which brought together investors and executives from media, communications and technology companies. Whilst speaking at the event, the BlackBerry CEO was asked for his opinion on the popularity of Apple’s smartphones.

“I call you guys wall huggers,” was his alleged reply. Joking though he may have been, the BlackBerry CEO did certainly hit on an unfortunate issue with the popular iPhones, which have a notoriously low battery life and require frequent recharging. It must have something to do with all those pesky apps and features available to iPhone users.

Whatever his opinion on the popular handset, there are certainly more people apparently clinging to walls than there are to BlackBerry devices.
