Facebook has announced that it will soon be rolling out a new audio fingerprinting feature, in the style of music recognition service Shazam. The Facebook mobile app will be equipped with an audio fingerprinting tool. Say you enjoy Breaking Bad. While watching Walt and Jesse on their latest caper, all you have to do is click a button within the app. The service will come into play there, identifying the audio and, with that, taking you to a forum where you can discuss What Walt Did Next with fellow Breaking Bad lovers.

FCC chairman: Internet fast lane would be "commercially unreasonable"

Despite what the Federal Communications Commission has voted to consider, its chairman has noted that the agency could very well move to block the rise of Internet fast lanes, as opposed to introduce them. Tom Wheeler has acknowledged that Internet providers would be unbalancing a "virtuous cycle" by introducing charges to companies in order to allow them to clamp down on what is otherwise free-flowing information. China bans Windows 8 from government computers

Microsoft has been dealt a huge blow today, with the announcement that the Chinese government has chosen to ban Windows 8 from its inhouse computers. The Central Government Procurement Center issued the ban based on using energy-saving products, something it announced on its website last week. The official Xinhua news agency said the ban was there to protect computer security following Microsoft's withdrawal of support for Windows XP, which is still heavily used in China.

Facebook is now offering free anti-malware software to its abuse detection and prevention system for users with infected devices.
