Apple reportedly making EarPods "smarter"

Apple's EarPods, an upgraded version of the iconic white earbuds released in 20212, are due for yet another revamp - a "smarter" one, if you will. An anonymous post on the Secret app stated that "Apple's new EarPods will have sensors in them, for heart rate and blood pressure." This is particularly significant owing to the upcoming iOS 8 update's supposedly health-centric new features. have also unearthed a couple of patent applications, from March 2007 and August 2008 specifically, that focus on headsets with "one or more integrated physiological sensors." 

Wearable tech at the moment is everywhere, be it through the series of smartwatches hitting the market or Google Glass. Apple's own iWatch is still in production, but with iOS 8 just around the corner, could the upgraded EarPods be the next step? Watch this space.
