Microsoft called out for excluding competitors from conference

Microsoft has been caught trying to keep its competitors from participating in its Worldwide Partner Conference in July. Lenovo beats Apple in U.S. personal computer rankings

Lenovo, the world's biggest PC manufacturer, had a 27 percent jump in full-year profit, and has overtaken Apple in PC shipments to the U.S. for the first time. The Chinese company broke the $1 billion benchmark for the first time when it increased its gross profit to $1.01 billion for the year to the end of March. The company saw in 14 percent increase in revenue to $38.7 billion and sold 55 million PCs during this period. Facebook users who overshare most likely to be lonely

A new Australian study has revealed how people who share "too much" information are generally more depressed or lonely in real life. The study found that over 79 percent of users who describe themselves as being lonely shared more personal information, as compared to around 65 percent of users. Referred to as "Facebook depression," social media tends to pressure people into "proving something" to fellow users, often causing feelings of envy or sadness.

Torrentz.eu back online

In yet another attack on torrent websites, users of the popular Torrentz.eu found they couldn't access the website yesterday. As it turns out, the UK-based Police Intellectual Property Crime Unit (PIPCU) had successfully taken the website offline by having its domain suspended. This originally hit UK computers, but it didn't take long for users all over the world to report that Torrentz.eu was missing in action.

Apple demanding more money from Samsung

Apple's victory over Samsung in their long-running lawsuit was quite the pyrrhic one, and this was felt significantly down in Cupertino. Now the iPhone maker is demanding a retrial, with the $2.2 billion in damages it initially sought suddenly back in question. The original trial saw Apple accusing the Korean companjy of "systematically" copying features distinctive to its iOS software, which led to a significantly lower payout of $119 million.
