Microsoft appears to be joining Apple and Samsung in the smartwatches industry. A recent patent application highlights a Microsoft invention called a "Wearable Personal Information System", which Microsoft claims will solve two common problems with current smartwatches: dirt caused by perspiration, and the lack of real-time, biometric feedback generated through exercise.

Facebook-owned WhatsApp has gone out of its way to reassure users that its current privacy policies will not change to match those of its new mother company, which are more than a little questionable. Another Facebook acquisition did the same - and then did a complete 180. While the company behind Moves, a popular fitness tracking app, spent a good couple of days reassuring its users that none of its data would be commingled with Facebook, it has now seemingly changed its mind - a mere 11 days later.
