$99 Tablets for Christmas from Intel

Got a technology addict in the family draining your holiday budget? Intel has some good news for you in the form of a $99 tablet.

With so many companies producing tablet devices the devices are finally starting to see a drop in prices. Inspired by this fierce competition, Intel will be releasing a $99 tablet just in time for the holiday rush within the next couple of months. The drop in price doesn’t only apply to Intel’s tablets, though but to the company’s microprocessor laptops and hybrid tablet laptops.

Although CEO Brian Krzanich had previously cited the forthcoming tablet prices as closer to $150 during the second quarter, he announced at the company’s earning conference that that price would definitely be lowered. The tablets are part of the latest line including the new Atom chip, which Intel has introduced to its line of computers only within the last year.

After a slightly improved quarter, the hopes are the improved performance from the new Haswell processors and the consumer-friendly prices of their latest devices will help to lure consumers away from Android and iOS tablets.
